| Fajada
Fantasy was photographed in
northeastern New Mexico. Fajada Butte (fah´•hah´•dah
byoot) was one of the holy mountains of the
Anasazi (ah´•nah•sah´•zee)
or Ancient Ones. The Anasazi’s disappearance hundreds of years
ago remains unexplained. The ruins of their main city are located near
Fajada Butte in Chaco Canyon. From the air, one can see remnants of
roads that run for miles like spokes on a wheel with Fajada Butte as the
hub. Archaeologists have determined Chaco Canyon was the center of trade
(as well as religion) by tracing some of the routes to Mexico...over
300 miles away! |
