| I used to
work for a hand-printed t-shirt store in Old Town in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. During the slow times I would look across the street and into
the courtyard of the gallery there. On a wooden post in the center of
the courtyard hung a ristra of chilies. As the day wore on, the shadows
from the latillas above the courtyard swept across the adobe wall
behind the chilies. It was so New Mexico!! The
gallery owners allowed me to photograph the scene I had watched all
summer long and thus Chilies came into being. |
